Mr. Stacy Foster:

You state in your website:

"I believe Hitler's Third Reich was the greatest threat to freedom in the history of mankind."
"Yes, the former Soviet Union with its nuclear arsenal, and even more corrupt, socialist agenda may seem a more menacing adversary, but they were destined to failure from the start. They never really had a chance at surviving; it was just a matter of them running their course, and the people realizing how wrong they truly were. Nazism was much different. With a few very slight changes in history,we could all be wearing swastikas on our uniforms right now."

Sir, Communism, which is not dead, is responsible for the deaths of well over 100 million people, nearly all of them populations under their control.. Hitler and the Axis powers of WWII were responsible for 25 -27 million people.

Communism is alive and well in China, the most populous nation on earth, and in Viet Nam, and Cuba.

National Socialism (Nazism) and International Socialism (communism) are two sides to the same coin.

The only difference between a socialist and a communist is the length of time each is willing to take to achieve their objective.

Therefore, you are wrong in your assessment of the greatest danger to freedom, which remains communism/socialism, and you only need look at what's become of our own nation in the years since WWII, at how socialist we ourselves have become. The "Bill of Rights" is practically void, it has become so encumbered with qualifiers. Our Taxes are repressive, very far removed from the lawful system set in place by our founders, and used for purposes not called for in our constitution.

"America's Greatest Generation?" They won WWII, put 23 million people behind the 'Iron Curtain' in Eastern Europe," made the world safe for communism, ushered in the Cold War, and made Korea and Viet Nam possible, this, while they presided over the sellout of our free heritage to the collectivist trash-heap. America's Greatest Generation, indeed.

I challenge you to prove me wrong.

John

(My thoughts on this...John you are correct with your facts, and I respect and even agree with your opinion on what has occurred since WWII. However, as I stated on the site, I believe Soviet style socialism restricts human nature so much that it was destined to fail. From my understanding of Nazism...the human spirit was able to flourish and suceed...as long as that human was Aryan of course. I'm not sticking up for either as I despise both...however I think in the overall picture of history...I still believe that Nazism was a greater threat.)

I would really appreciate your thoughts, comments and questions regarding the differences between Communism, Nazism, and other forms of Socialism. Also...if you can help any of our history buffs with their questions it would be greatly appreciated.

Please email comments to S.Foster@us.army.mil

Thank you.
